Wow. A lot of work went into this project to pull it off without a hitch. Good work, sir!

And thanks for raising the bar that much higher for the rest of us.

instagram, my new favorite app

The older I get, the more I seem to enjoy older things. Not things intended for older people, mind you. Rather, things that were once new, but are now old and considered “old fashioned.” Antiques without the stuffiness. If its hay day was between 1920 and 1960 I’m all about it these days. That’s why I LOVE taking photos with this new app: Instagram.

Instagram allows you to transform everyday photos taken with your iPhone into works of art. Most often giving them that “old timey” look and feel. The app is 100% free and comes with heaps of custom filters, borders and depth-of-field options to make your photos as unique as you.

relationship advice from a happy bachelor

I love being a bachelor. Absolutely love it. Having been married at age 23 and divorced by age 25, I’m in no rush to hear my wedding bells again anytime soon. That said, I’m also a romantic so being single isn’t always a pleasure. But then I hear my (platonic) girlfriends talk about the guys they’re casually dating and I’m back to loving bachelorhood.
At this (st)age dating is a dress rehearsal for marriage. Why are you going to date someone in your late 20s that you have no intention of settling down with? Casual dating allows you to audition for the opposite role in the other’s life. And from what I’m observing, both parties could use some coaching.

life lessons from a volunteer fire fighter

“Don’t wait. If you have something to give, give it now. Not every day is going to offer us the chance to save somebody’s life, but every day offers us an opportunity to affect one.” Wow. This talk is only 4:00 and still delivers a great message.

I’m not sure how people get invited to give these talks, but everyone is on point and is uber inspiring. How do you affect people’s lives on a daily basis?

bachelor cooking: chicken

Every Sunday night I do the same thing: cook a mess a chicken (said in my best Southern accent). It’s so easy and tastes so great that I thought I’d share how to do it. I have to give credit to my parents for introducing me to this method of quick and easy cooking.

Guys, this is a quick and easy way to cook a bunch of chicken at one time and have either for lunches or for other meals. You can easily add these chunks to grilled pizzas (that recipe is forth coming in the warmer months), salads, tacos, soups… the possibilities are endless for this… so let’s get to it.

creative suite pillows (!!)

Oook. I just saw these and really want them. You can buy them each separately for $15 each or the whole Creative Suite for $80. I’m not sure if that includes shipping and handling, but they’d sure make a good conversation piece.

Apparently the geeks (and when I say geeks I mean geniuses) behind these pillows weren’t able to keep up with the demand. A good problem if you ask me. So they’ve currently closed their store down to catch up and release new designs and incorporate a more efficient order fulfillment strategery.

Keep up with them here at My Suite Stuff.

The next two weeks…

I have a great opportunity to work at The Park at 14th for the next two weeks. I’ve applied and am interviewing for a full time position there as their Project Manager. These next two weeks will be a trial period to see if it’s a good fit. I sure hope it is.

This was the ad I responded to: Would you consider yourself creative, artistic, and inventive? Are you organized, structured, and prepared? Would others say you’re hard-working, meticulous, and detailed? If you answered yes to all these questions, we want you! We are looking for a project manager to take lead in a busy, fast paced, demanding, yet entertaining atmosphere. Must have strong familiarity in graphic design and style! Excellent verbal communication and writing expertise is mandatory!

Arlington Rap

We’ve all heard of Arlington, VA, right? Mostly known for being home to the US Military’s Arlington Cemetery and The Pentagon. I’m learning now that it has a very young, professional culture as well and it’s a place that I want to call home. (That is as soon as I find a place to live there).

Here’s a rap video that gives the low down on Arlington. As you can see, it’s far from ghetto.

date auction pictures

As some of you know, I was up for auction for the #CitizenGulf fundraiser. Bidding started at $5.00. I went for $155 and will be split between one lucky lady and a corporation for marketing consulting. Haha, hey it’s for a good cause, right?

Here’s a video of some of the pics that were taken that night:

The Call

Every now and then a song comes along that totally speaks to where I’m at. The Call is one of those.

I first heard it on my “Hans Zimmer” station on Pandora. Mostly instrumentals, it really caught my attention when there were words to it. I recognized the voice, Regina Spektor, and had to see what it was from. It all made sense to see it was from “Prince Caspian.”

You can listen to THE CALL here and read the lyrics below:

Song by: Regina Spektor

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
‘Til it was a battle cry

I’ll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because every thing’s changing
Doesn’t mean it’s never been this way before
All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are as you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say goodbye

You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say goodbye

Now, we’re back to the beginning
It’s just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can’t feel it too
Doesn’t mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
‘Til they’re before your eyes

You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye
