soldiers surprising their kids

Growing up in the United States Air Force, I can totally relate to these kids. My dad was deployed to the Gulf War back in the early 90s missing my third grade year. He was also deployed to Korea in 1997 missing my freshman year in High School. These families sacrifice everything to fight for our freedoms and it’s the most moving thing to see them reunite. Here’s a compilation of soldiers surprising their kids.

To ALL of our troops, thank you.

shop like a guy, dress like a man

shop like a guy, dress like a man

Since 2007, they’ve been selecting only the best gear and gadgets for their members at prices far below what you’d pay anywhere else. They’re the only private club where you can shop in your boxers.

(Their sisters got the ball rolling as a sample sale thing, but they had to step in and explain a couple things about how guys like to shop. So at least this part of the Internet doesn’t smell like the fragrance counter of a department store.)

They’ve got everything you need for sports, dates, weekends and work. Shopping there couldn’t be easier: you see a picture of something you like, pick a size and a color, and they send it to you in a box. It’s that simple.

They figure the Gilt Man knows what labels work and what to avoid. They  know you appreciate a well-constructed jacket and the first whiff of a freshly opened box of sneakers. Maybe every now and then they’ll suggest a shirt—but basically they trust you not to leave the house looking like you’re going to an `80s pool party. (Unless that’s your thing. No judgments.)

Think of Gilt Man as a hardware store selling the tools for life: workware, playware, lifeware. Right now they have hundreds of items for sale at up to 70% off their original price: killer stuff at killer value.

Gentlemen, welcome to Gilt Man.

the art & science of snacking

the art & science of snacking

My day job requires a lot of desk time; sitting, barely moving. I hate it. Not my job, but the fact that I can’t be more active during the day. Because I workout pretty hard after work 5 days a week I find that I’m always hungry.

So I eat every three hours or so. Or at least I try to anyway. The old saying is that 80% of loosing weight or “getting in shape” comes from eating (diet); the other 20% comes from exercise. Gone are the days of “three square meals.” I think diabetics have it down: eat every three hours to maintain a consistent blood sugar level and calorie intake. It just makes sense.
