paramore welcome video

Paramore got their start at The People’s Church down in Franklin, TN. In 2006, I was able to catch them between tours for a quick interview and welcome video for Sunday morning:

Welcome videos are a great way to open the service and showcase either a group or an individual in your church. There are so many great stories out there and this is a good way to tell them. Bonus points if you get the story to match with the teaching of that morning.

Miracle Maker by Delirious?

There’s something very mystical and almost magical about this song. Very appropriate for Good Friday:

madeon, my new favorite

Madeon is a producer that you should know about. He’s sixteen years old (16!!), from France, and makes ridiculously good-looking, tasteful nu-disco. That’s just about all I know of him.

I can’t really decide if he is a master sampler of 70′s synth/bass sounds or if he uses some sort of bass module/awesome synthesis to get his sounds. He’s definitely rocking the french swag – but don’t group him in to any sort of cliche because his tracks are fresh and tasty.

Here’s the MP3 of a remix he did of “DJ” by Alphabeat.

DJ Earworm did it again

DJ Earworm has done it again. He’s taken the top 25 songs of 2010 and created one new song, “Don’t Stop the Pop.”

The outcome is pretty cool:

What’s cooler is you can download the mp3 file for FREE here and also see the video version (above). This one’s pretty good, but 2009 and 2008 are my favorites. Click below to see them!

Fireflies & Songs

I just discovered Sara Grove’s “Fireflies & Songs” album this week and I’m in love with it. I can’t quite put my finger on what it is about this album that I like, or what about it that moves me so… but it does.

She sings a lot on this album about home, life and community. It’s nostalgic, and I think that’s what strikes a chord with me. I can’t get enough of the title track, “Fires & Songs” and “Twice as Good.” Watch/listen below and fall in love with a great album to round out your fall music collection.

The Call

Every now and then a song comes along that totally speaks to where I’m at. The Call is one of those.

I first heard it on my “Hans Zimmer” station on Pandora. Mostly instrumentals, it really caught my attention when there were words to it. I recognized the voice, Regina Spektor, and had to see what it was from. It all made sense to see it was from “Prince Caspian.”

You can listen to THE CALL here and read the lyrics below:

Song by: Regina Spektor

It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
‘Til it was a battle cry

I’ll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because every thing’s changing
Doesn’t mean it’s never been this way before
All you can do is try to know
Who your friends are as you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light

You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say goodbye

You’ll come back
When it’s over
No need to say goodbye

Now, we’re back to the beginning
It’s just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can’t feel it too
Doesn’t mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
‘Til they’re before your eyes

You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

You’ll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

mika: the boy who knew too much

mika: the boy who knew too much

OK, so I’m a little behind on getting this one as it released last fall, but I’ve got it, love it, and wanted to share it with you.

This is MIKA’s sophomore album following his debut album “Life in Cartoon Motion” that released in January of 2009. You can purchase “The Boy Who Knew Too Much” on iTunes here.

(From Wikipedia:) Mika has described the album’s themes as dealing with his teenage years, and “in a sense is kind of part two” of his first album. In contrast to his first album which “contained innocent fairytales” Mika pitches the new album’s songs as “gothic Tim Burton-esque fantasies.”

Fans of Queen, Elton John and Marc Martel will love this one!

Oh, and be sure to check out MIKA’s new single, “Kick Ass (We Are Young)

anna johnson: ready to go

anna johnson: ready to go

Ok, if you like “Hey, Soul Sister” by Train, then you’ll LOVE “Ready to Go.” It’s perfect for a sunny day; windows down, back road weekend day trip. Maybe you’ve got your +1 with you… I dunno. It’s your imagination. But it’ll run with this one. I love it.

It comes from Anna Johnson, a girl I met a few months ago. She’s a new artist in town and working on her new project. I believe this is the title track of said upcoming release. I’m going to go ahead and say it… she can be the next Colbie Caillat if she plays her cards right. *Woah… I know.

You can check out more of her stuff on her YouTube channel and her MySpace page. Listen to Ready To Go – MP3 right here!
