The Question Game: rules of engagment

Played mostly at restaurants while waiting for the food to come, The Question Game is a little something my friends and I play from time to time. The concept is simple: ask a general question and have it answered by your friends as well as yourself in order 1) break the ice and/or 2) get to know everyone better.

Anyone can ask a question, but everyone has to answer it. They can be as general or as detailed as you’d like.

If you’re playing on Twitter, just be sure to use the hash tag, #QuestionGame so we can all see everyone’s Q&As in one place.

That’s it! Pretty simply, huh? Now get to it and ask away!

Toby likes to…

The following list documents the top 10 list of things “Toby likes to” do, as determined by the world’s most popular search engine, Google.

If you wish to play along, these are the instructions: Go to Google and search for “[Your first name] likes to” and then state here the top 10… Make sure to use quotes around “[Your first name] likes to.”

1. Toby likes to sniff.
2. Toby likes to jump too!
3. Toby likes to tell people that his Korean middle name of Soo Chul is pronounced, “So Cool.”
4. Toby likes to try and chase pigeons and play. (…ok, “Toby” is a VERY common dog name, apparently… but then again, who doesn’t like to chase pigeons and play?!)
5. Toby likes to drink water out of Taco’s (the chihuahua) bowl even though he has his very own water bottle.
6.Toby likes to growl when he is happy – but he doesn’t bite. (again with the dogs…)
7. Toby likes to sit in the sun and relax while Ellie runs frantically around the yard. He is happy and healthy and very lovable. (it’s true, y’all)
8. Toby likes to be tickled and scratched and loves being groomed. This is partly because he gets “sweet itch” which is an allergy to fly bites.
9. Toby likes to sit on my lap while I surf the net. His favorite site is Pup-n-stuff.com where we got his tiny coat…totally cute for only $9.99.
10. Toby likes to collect cookbooks and cameras. He tries to practice yoga daily (and if he doesn’t, he gets kinda grumpy).

What’s YOUR top 10 list of “[Your name] likes to”???

latest project: rondasturgill.com

My mom had two websites: a simple wordpress blog & and a static site that showcased her speaking engagments, bio, etc (circa 2005). With the use of Web2.0 and the success of blending my two sites, I pushed her to combine them into this one.

Using WordPress as the backend and a template from WooThemes I was able to make a site that is fresh, relevant and one that she can keep up dated as she wishes.

how to optimize your WP site for iPhone

You can’t deny that Apple is re-defining the mobile web. The iPhone and iPod Touch are full fledged web browsers and there are lots of people using them. So, why don’t you take 5 minutes and optimize your WordPress blog for the iPhone and iPod Touch?

Step 1 – Install iWPhone. This plugin and theme combo automatically detects the iPhone or iPod Touch and serves up a specific theme optimized just for those screens. All you have to do is install it and activate it. When an an iPhone or iPod stops by, your site will be ready.

Step 2 – Install iPhone Mobile Admin. This plugin re-works the admin side of your blog specifically for the iPhone or iPod Touch. It makes it quite handy if you have one of these devices and want to login and post or manage your blog on the go. It should work with other mobile phones too if you don’t have an iPhone. There is also WPhone if iPhone Mobile Admin doesn’t fit your needs.

Step 3 – Create a Webclip icon. This is the icon that will show up if someone adds your blog (or website) to the home screen on their iPhone or iPod Touch. If you don’t have a webclip, it’ll just grab your favicon and scale it up and make it look pixley and ugly.

That’s it, your WordPress blog is now optimized for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s cool again and you can brag that you are on the cutting edge of technology even without an iPhone.

While you are at it, you might want to optimize your blog for all mobile phones too.

This website as well as PixelsPreach.com are now optimized! Hot damn.

Dexter Opening Titles

This is the best opening sequence I’ve seen on TV in a long time.

He’ll charm fellow officers with a doughnut, wile away a Sunday with his girlfriend Rita, or chop up a victim and package their body parts in plastic bags. Hiding beneath the mundane exterior and contrived façade of Dexter, a charming blood spatter expert for the Miami Police Department, is an obsession with meting his own twisted brand of justice: stalking and murdering the guilty.

about me

My dream is to be part of something bigger than myself and to influence culture for the greater good.
