Wow, Toby. :-) I love your spirit. During the past 3 years, I conducted a couple hundred interviews. I learned to be very specific on my focus for talent. And, when one lacked experience, we hired attitude; looking for the ones that will go after it with a relentless determination. Now, I am on the other side of the desk and find myself soul-searching before my next step. It is truly awesome how God teaches us way more in the process, or on the journey, than when we arrive at our destination and reach the goal. So proud of you! love ya, Sherry

Love it man. Getting rejected is one of the best things to experience. Getting rejected that many times and still having a smile on your face...that's character. Cheers to you for having the guts to keep pursuing what's in your heart. You've inspired me tonight.

And by the way, you'll have to share your "Let's do this" line with me, 'cuz I've been using that one for awhile myself :)

When doors close for me I always tell people, "It's not that there won't be an open door. It's just that the hallway is longer than I thought it would be." Hopefully, that encourages you. I'm right there with you. :)

Wow. That film trailer was one of the best I've seen all month! And it isn't just because of the professional filming. It was the way the community of castle hills came together to make something that will benefit the whole area. If this is a film, I hope to buy it in the near future.

Rod!! Hey man. Thanks for the input. I'd love any chance to talk with your connection at FOX. There are pros and cons to all of my options listed so at this point I'm open to just about anything. The thing that's most attractive to grad school is the networking opps they provide through required internships. At the same time, I'm not that thrilled to take on $60,000+ of debt... but the return on that investment does seem to be greater than most. Looking forward to your thoughts...

Toby:
Really like how you're putting yourself out there...again. I admire your determination to make this career change. Following your passion is the right way to go. Now, about your three choices. Film school does have its merits, but that's time and money that you might not have to spend. Taking any job for the experience is a slow process, but it might be your best option. Seems like going solo would take a lot of money and investors. That's your least attractive option. Here's another idea. Start doing interviews. Talk to producers (TV, film, ad reels) about how the process works, why they like it, how they got into it, and find out as much as you can. One of the hardest things to accept in any career is paying your dues. Nobody likes it, but there's no way around it.
By the way, I've got a FB friend who's a producer at Fox. I'll be glad to give you his name.
Best,
-Rod

Black and white/Chiaroscuro...always helps your audience to focus on the main thing...so Toby you did well to manage all the elements to produce this 'emotional-heart-truth' piece of cinema; the circa of fact that affects us all.
